Our History
More than 60 years of Artilat
As a natural product, latex rubber has been around for centuries. Its advantages for health and sleep are plenty and turned it into a highly requested product worldwide.
Artilat was founded in 1957 by the Van Roey family, owners of a rubber plantation in the Congo. Up until the 1980s, the company focused on producing latex and PU foam for the furniture and automotive industry. Impressive industries back then, but a slow decline caused the family to make the jump and focus on a new-found and quickly growing latex market: the bedding industry.
By the late 1990s, Artilat had become a reference, playing the finals in the World Cup of Latex Sleeping Products repeatedly. These global successes turned into a new international upgrade: Vyrolat. This second production hub saw the light in 1997 in the Czech Republic and aimed to serve central and eastern Europe quicker and better.
By now, the 2020s, sustainability and creating the best sleep are still at the heart of both companies. It’s what our past was about, and it most definitely is what our future looks like.
